About us

Hip Line Media is made up of a diverse group of women and men who enjoy being creative. We sew, quilt, draw, paint, take pictures, knit, design, cook, garden, and build. We love learning and can be found taking a diverse offering of classes at any time. Meet some of our people!

Lori Petitti

Writer, Producer

Lori learned to sew as a teenager from her very talented mom. But she spent the last 15 years working on her television career and forgot to sew most of the time. Now that Hip Line Media has formed Lori is devoting more of her time to writing and producing fashion and crafty projects. You can still see her name on the credits of network TV shows too - something has to pay the bills! Lori is happily married to Scott Sakamoto.

Mona Curtis

Host and Educator

Mona learned to sew as a young girl and has continued her education through various professional courses and as an instructor in the greater Los Angeles area. Her talents range from garment sewing to quilting and heirloom sewing. If Mona’s wearing it, chances are very good she made it. She has two grown sons and a supportive husband, David.

Genevieve Harlocker

Host and Nurse

Genevieve grew up in North Vancouver, Canada in a large family. Her interests from a young age have been to play music, sew and knit. Genevieve has worked as a nurse in Vancouver, Toronto and now Los Angeles where she makes her home with her husband and son, Finley. To fulfill her artistic needs, Genevieve plays violin, sews clothes and creates home décor projects.

Gloria Cohen

Architect

Gloria likes to draw and design. She can be found working with the engineers and city planners in the suburbs of Palm Springs. She drew the patterns for our Making Handbags DVD as well as various diagrams on complicated sewing techniques. Gloria hails from the New Jersey shore, home of Bruce (Springsteen, that is).

Susie Tilton

Host and Entrepreneur

Susie owns a company in Memphis where she creates for schools, individuals and corporations. She has been creating stuff since it was invented! Susie has a great sense of humor and her children have learned how important laughter is in their lives. Susie is known for hosting the best slumber parties – everyone creates something! Susie shares her life with Scott, Nicholas and Christina as well as assorted animals.

Roger has worked on murals, taught art at children’s camps and produced custom work for department stores. You can see more of his work at www.odalisquefineart.com

Scott Sakamoto

Joan brought her wealth of knowledge about the sewing industry to the Hip Line Media studios. She read scripts, watched rehearsals and even acted as camera assistant. Joan was instrumental in getting industry support for our programs from machine manufacturer Janome, pattern makers Vogue and Butterick, and notions supplier Prym Dritz. Joan is an accomplished counted cross stitch artist.

Mariko Catherine Ishihara

Graphic Designer

Mariko is a talented graphic artist living in Los Angeles. She created the animation for our Hip Line Media open and the colors to support our logo. She typically works on blockbuster Hollywood action movies so we were excited to have her for the job. Because there’s no action quite like the action of sewing! Mariko recently got a dog that is chewing up all of her possessions. He may be for sale very soon.

Jaye

Jaye is a dog who loves to run the trail at Lake Arrowhead with Lori and Scott. She belongs to Rob Daly but is borrowed on ocassion by Lori and Scott. Jaye loves to chase squirrels.
